How to Replace a Lid Switch on a 29 Estate Washer
If the lid switch on your 29 Estate washer is broken, the washer will not be able to start or stop a cycle. The lid switch is a safety feature that prevents the washer from operating with the lid open. Replacing the lid switch is a relatively easy repair that can be completed in about 30 minutes.

Tools and materials needed
* Phillips head screwdriver * New lid switch * Towel * Bucket
Step-by-step instructions
1. Unplug the washer from the power outlet. 2. Turn off the water supply to the washer. 3. Place a towel on the floor in front of the washer to catch any water that may leak out. 4. Place a bucket under the washer to catch any water that may leak out. 5. Remove the two screws that hold the top panel of the washer in place. 6. Lift the top panel off of the washer and set it aside. 7. Locate the lid switch. It is usually located on the right-hand side of the washer, near the top. 8. Disconnect the wires from the lid switch. 9. Remove the two screws that hold the lid switch in place. 10. Pull the lid switch out of the washer. 11. Insert the new lid switch into the washer. 12. Secure the lid switch in place with the two screws. 13. Connect the wires to the lid switch. 14. Replace the top panel of the washer. 15. Secure the top panel in place with the two screws. 16. Turn on the water supply to the washer. 17. Plug the washer back into the power outlet. 18. Test the lid switch by opening and closing the lid. The washer should start and stop accordingly.
